Bernie and Sandy Ware of Ware Farm pick these Morning Glow strawberries early in the morning and deliver them to our facility where we sort and wash by hand to assure gentle handling and that only the best berries get used. We add it a touch of concentrate from white wine grapes to tame the tartness just a bit. Bernie and Sandy have a wonderful farm where they also grow organic asparagus and garden vegetables. If you ever pass through Bear Lake, Michigan in the summer, check out their home baked strawberry pies at their farm stand!
Their strawberries can also be found in our Strawberry Basil Preserve and our Fruit Juice Sweetened Mixed Berry Preserve. To their credit Bernie and Sandy are leaders in our community and have been supportive participants in our Domestic Fair Trade pilot program. There's simply so much more than just strawberries, basil and Fair Trade sugar in every jar.
